📚 Hill’s Bookstore: A New Chapter for Hollister’s Book Lovers!

It started as a simple thought: Hollister needs a bookstore! For Kimberly Hill and her husband Adam (Who met in Dubai while serving in the Navy!), that thought never went away. It followed them on every out-of-town book-buying trip, and finally, one day, the thought demanded action. Just like that, Hill’s Bookstore was born.

When they first played with the idea, they decided to test the waters. They launched their first pop-up event, bringing about 120 books—and they nearly sold out! “It truly blew me away. We were able to sell almost all of the inventory, and it brought a tear to my eye because Hollister really does want a bookstore!” Kimberly shared.

Fast forward to today, and Hill’s Bookstore is officially opening its doors! Hollister will now have a beautiful, permanent bookstore. Designed with warmth, creativity, and a deep love for literature, this space is more than just shelves of books. It’s an experience—one filled with a thoughtfully curated selection and community events that bring book lovers together.

The shop itself reflects the couple’s love for adventure and the great outdoors. From the name—a nod to both Hollister’s rolling hills and their own last name, Hill—to the camping-themed play area for kids, every detail was designed to bring a sense of wonder and belonging. "We want our customers to feel like they are about to go on an adventure. The destination would be the book they might read," Kimberly said.

Building a bookstore from the ground up wasn’t without its challenges. “The biggest challenge is overcoming self-doubt. Owning a business is all about taking risks, and sometimes the fear of those risks can overshadow the amazing things that can come out of it. Someone once said, ‘The magic you are looking for is in the work you are avoiding.’ This quote has reshaped my perspective, and I wrote it on my bathroom mirror so I can be reminded every day to keep pursuing the magic,” Kimberly shared.

Now, just days away from opening, the Hills are feeling all the excitement that comes with making their dream a reality. Kimberly’s advice for anyone chasing a dream? “My advice would be to invest in yourself. There have been two books that have really changed our lives and given us the courage to take that leap of faith. However it might fit in your own life and situation, just remember to invest in yourself and to keep moving forward. Research everything you can. There is an infinite well of wisdom and knowledge out there. Use it to your advantage.”
